Day 530 - Porygon-Z | ポリゴンZ & Cassius
Porygon.mb was a 3D model created by a young agoraphobic scientist as part of his wish to make a lab partner. He was a gifted scientist who developed a device able to 3D print living tissue. This created Porygon, named after the polygons that modeled it. Porygon was a very helpful friend, but it was slow. Still, the scientist made Porygon's operating files open source, so everyone in his situation could also create a friend.
Three years later, the gifted scientist decided to develop a speed upgrade. Porygon 2 was modeled after a drinking bird toy he had as a child. He had started to go outside every so often to get new parts for his gizmos and gadgets. This helped with his agoraphobia. He would take Porygon 2 with him wherever he went, showing off its new capabilities. Porygon 2 was happy.
Being open source, Porygon's online files were modified at a rapid rate by other users, streamlining its coding. A few years later, a new branch of Porygon was developed. An unknown user rewrote all of the code from the ground up. It was filled with erroneous lines, yet it ran somewhat well. It was developed to be compressed, so Porygon-Z ran somewhat glitchy. It has erratic behaviour and movement, but impressive attack power. It was very formidable in battle.
People were wary and wondered what the original scientist and his Porygon 2 thought about Porygon-Z. The scientist, now a wonderful computer technician with three Porygon 2 friends, went on the original BBS and posted this response:
"Sup? Porygon-Z is really impressive. However, I am not sure what Porygon-Z is thinking. From what I've read, it ain't speaking much, but it certainly tries to show emotion. It glitches out whenever it attempts to, needing to be reset manually. I don't think you should use this unstable build, yo."
The Internet turned against the prospect of Porygon-Z, much to the chagrin of the scientist's Porygon-2. Porygon-2 was determined to rework the code from the inside out. Being the product of a great scientist, they were sure they could use their intuition. So one day, they worked together to upgrade themselves whilst the scientist slept.
When the scientist woke up, he was shocked to see speedy Porygon-Z fluttering all over the room. All three of them were happy to wake him up. "Happy? You're smiling! But how?!" They didn't need to answer. The scientist got up, transferred the new Porygon-Z files to the BBS and told the world of his -- no, not his, the Porygon 2's success.
"Yo, I'm so happy for you all! Porygon has helped me grow as a person and a scientist throughout my life! This is the final upgrade I'll ever post. This is Cassius and Porygon-Z signing off! See 'ya!"
So now, Porygon-Z emotes perfectly. They left in some of the erratic movement because of the charm it had. The Internet downloaded in in droves. Now, everyone had a brand new patch for Porygon-Z, and the world rejoiced.
Cassius and his three Porygon-Z went on to develop the PC system for the Kalos region by working off of Bridgette and Bill's original work. His agoraphobia managed with the help of making a few friends, literally.
